Hello Friends,
August is here, bringing with it that familiar, almost bittersweet feeling—the kind that reminds us how quickly summer slips by. In my own world, this passage of time feels especially real: both of my daughters are heading off to college at the end of the month—one to Smith College, and the other to UCONN (Go Huskies!).
For artists like me, August is also filled with inspiring exhibitions, and moments that capture the light and energy of late summer. I'm excited to share that the Madison Art Society is celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year! As a board member, it's an honor to be part of this milestone, and I'm thrilled to have my collage "Sunset Glow" (pictured above) accepted into the 50th Annual Juried Art Exhibition—a highlight of our year. The show opens tomorrow, August 6th, and runs through September 5th at the Scranton Memorial Library in Madison.
Join me for the Opening Reception: Thursday, August 7th | 5:30–7:30 PMEnjoy an evening of art, live music, and refreshments in the heart of Madison.
A big thank you to everyone who visited the Clothesline Art Sale at Guild Hall in East Hampton a few weeks ago! I’m so grateful my collage “Hammonasset Happy Hour / Gulls” sold and found a new home. I’m now working on a companion piece for the Shoreline Arts Trail this fall—Save the Date: November 15–16, 2025! More details here.
For now, let’s soak up August while it’s here. Thank you, as always, for supporting my work and being part of this journey.
Fondly, Alex
