Leaping into March with Two Shows

"Owenego Rocks" Merit Award Winner: Lyme Art Association

Hello Friends,

February 29 was an unusual day as it comes along only once every four years. I thought it was a good day to 'blog' about my 'unusual' art practice: hand tearing swatches of color from magazines and then turning them into impressionistic pieces of art. I love the 'surprise' element of my collage process, and I'm thankful to have you all here to follow in my journey.

CURRENT SHOWS

LYME ART ASSOCIATION:

"Owenego Rocks" (above) was accepted into Lyme Art Association's 'Exhibit in Four Acts: Rock of Ages' show. I found out that it also received an Award of Merit from juror Dean Fisher. Very excited and grateful to receive this news! This exhibition will run through April 11 (and will be featured online as well).

DENISE BIBRO FINE ART GALLERY (NY):

I also found out that I've been juried into a yearly exhibit called #COLLAGENOW. It's an online show that features many contemporary collage artists from all over the United States. A little bit about the gallery: Denise Bibro Fine Art opened its Chelsea, NY location in 1997. In subsequent years the gallery became well known for its annual open call exhibition providing an exhibition opportunity for local emerging artists. In Fall 2021, the Gallery evolved to virtual programming and online artistic curations. Stay tuned for the link to this show, I'll be posting it on Instagram in the next week, so give a follow there for the latest news. IG: @alexwetmoreart

Many of you know that I've spent the majority of my 'business career' in advertising. I still have freelance clients and I'm thrilled to add a new one to my list that's definitely in my wheelhouse. I'll be doing the website, marketing, and promotion, for the Shoreline Arts Trail 2024. I'm also going to be a featured artist on this trail as well, so I have a vested interest to promote it heavily.

If you've never been on this arts trail, it's a great weekend in New England during Fall Foliage season. The trail will run from November 16-17, 2024. Mark your calendars! Over 40 artists will open up their studios along the Connecticut shoreline for one weekend.

But, I'm getting ahead of myself. Right now I'm 'thinking Spring' and looking forward to some warmer weather. As always, feel free to get in touch with me.

Stay Tuned - I'll be doing another art giveaway in May.

All best,

- Alex

PS. My original collage "Lone Egret" won the People's Choice Award at the West Hartford Art League over the weekend. Honored that my art is resonating with people. Thank you!
